Our first meal in Istanbul

All our meals during the trip were provided for by SA Travel. Most dinners are eaten at the hotels we stayed at and they were served buffet style.  We only ate at restaurants while on the road or while we were out on excursions.

Meals served in Turkish restaurants are similar to what you will get in a restaurant in Europe.  However, coffee or tea are not served free of charge and fruits are served as dessert.

Our first meal was eaten at Dubb Kebab Restaurant located at Binbirdirek Mah Peykhane Cad No 34/1B Sultanahmet Fatih, Istanbul, Turkey, 34410. There is a map to the restaurant on their facebook page.

You can view its interior from their website.

These were what we ate:

Turkish rolls

Salad with olive oil dressing

From the website of Dubb Kebab Restaurant, I discovered that the Turkish lentil soup served is called Mercimek corbasi

-A pack of plain water

Our meals were usually followed by a choice of chicken or...

...beef dish, in this case, its kebab.

Whenever we ate out of the hotel, Yavuz would check with us what we would like to be served ahead of our arrival at every restaurant. My husband and I have a habit of choosing different dishes whenever we travel so that we could try more dishes served in the countries we visited.  I think the chicken taste better as the beef was a little saltier.

Although 99.8% of the Turkish population is Muslim, you will not have any problem buying beer to drink in Turkish restaurants.

And you can drink it there too.

Cheers to our new found friends.
